Whew! This took a little longer than expected, and in the end, I decided to not be so anal about production and just let it fly for the last third of it. Enjoy!
I am twice-blessed in this life.
I appreciate everyone's comments and feedback, as I said before, it's an evolving project, but quickly turning into a pet one.
Criticisms so far:
1. This one is just too damned long. It's over 20 minutes, and geez, unless you've got a group of people in there or you've got some really strong material, you're just not going to get people to pay attention for that long.
- Duly noted. I'll try to break it down into smaller chunks, or just figure out how to pack everything in concisely into, say, a 10 minute segment. I initially figured that most podcasts can last well over an hour, and they do nothing but talk straight through. But the point remains that I'm not doing this to win any popularity contests.
2. Is this a podcast, or web-radio? Half of it sounds like talk-radio, and the other half a typical podcast.
- I honestly don't know. I listen to a whole lot of talk-radio during my commute, so that's what is naturally influencing my creative juices when I'm trying to put together bits. I am, however, under no illusions that it'll sound anything like professional talk radio - after all, I'm just an amauteur messing around with home equipment and download-for-free audio editing program. Good talk-radio has to do a number of things well; it has to keep your attention by addressing topics their target audience is interested in, it has to deliver it in a way that earns the audiences' respect (strong radio personality, quick thinkers, easily-digestable opinions), and the whole presentation needs good support in order to keep attention from straying (quick audio clips, humor, sound effects, audio overdose to keep the ear occupied).
Podcasts, on the other hand, aren't necessarily burdened by the need to keep an audiences attention. It is already implicitly assumed that you're tuning in because you're interested in the subject matter. It's incredibly easy to create one, and no one is going to shut you down if you're not reaching enough listeners.
My current format is stuck between these two mentalities. I may decide to ditch the talk-radio style bit segments altogether - I don't think creative enough to make them consistently funny, like what you'd hear if you were listening to an audio version of the Daily Show. We'll see. Like I said, this is a developing thing, and I'm doing this for fun. And it's also to test a thought that always comes to mind whenever someone tells me I should do radio - it's not how you sound that's really important, it's that you have something to say.
Peace out, brutha's and hot sista's. Keep the comments rolling in.

Welcome, honored ladies and gents....
Welcome to my very first podcast! Indeed, it is a most auspicious time for each and every one of us, and by "every one of us", I mean, all 3 of my readers here at highbanality.com. I encourage everyone to not only listen, but give your own feedback as well. I'm still learning how to do this, what with all the crazy sound effects and whatnot, so bear with me.
So, without further ado:
NUMBA ONE!
(You'll likely need Quicktime, or alternatively, since this is a Podcast, save it onto your computer and listen to it that way. It's all in Mp3 format, so it should be friendly.)
